"Beautiful Boy" is an indie film directed by Shawn Ku. He co-wrote alongside Michael Armbruster, and although this is his first feature film he has previously directed a musical short film called Pretty Dead Girl which received a lot of commentary at Sundance.

Maria Bello and Michael Sheen play a married couple on the verge of separation when they are hit with the news their 18-year-old son committed a mass shooting at his college, before taking his own life.

Austin plays Cooper Stearns. He is a writer who writes about the tragedy.

The movie wrapped in December 2009 and will be released in 2010.

From interviews with Mehcad Brooks

The dark indie drama Fencewalker “deals with the racial dynamic of America."

It should be "hopefully coming out this year, hitting the festivals. It's Chris Carter's passion project —
he wrote and directed it. It's got me, Natalie Dormer, Katie Cassidy, Austin Nichols, Xzibit —
great cast, really, really great cast. It's kind of like "American Beauty" meets "American History X."
It's something special."

Bello, Sheen wrap 'Beautiful Boy'

Ku's directorial debut centers on college shooting

By MICHAEL FLEMING

Maria Bello and Michael Sheen have wrapped production on "Beautiful Boy," an indie film directed by Shawn Ku.

Ku and Michael Armbruster wrote the script and Lee Clay and Eric Gozlan are the producers.

Bello and Sheen play a married couple on the verge of separation when they are hit with the news their 18-year-old son committed a mass shooting at his college, before taking his own life.

Pic, which just wrapped in L.A., marked the feature directing debut for Ku, who created a stir in Sundance for his unconventional musical short film "Pretty Dead Girl."

Moon Bloodgood, Alan Tudyk, Kyle Gallner, Austin Nichols and Meat Loaf also in the cast.

Mark Moran, Richard Gabai and Richard Iott are exec producers. Bello was recently nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for "Downloading Nancy," and Sheen most recently starred in "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" and "The Damned United."

Austin Nichols Exclusive Interview

the site is excited to bring an exclusive interview with One Tree Hill star Austin Nichols, who plays Julian Baker, for the December 8 episode...

...Nichols was introduced to the One Tree Hill fan base as Julian Baker in the eighth episode of season six last year. Nichols’ character was brought on board to cause a stir between the show’s couple Lucas Scott and Peyton Sawyer, but Julian was soon linked romantically with the Brooke Davis character.

Austin admitted he was unsure when he was asked to be brought on board the show full-time.

“I wasn’t sure what to think when One Tree Hill creator Mark Schwahn asked me to come on full-time,” Nichols admitted. “I didn’t know about the time commitment. But I am glad I decided to stay, I have learned so much here.”

Nichols talks about his role of Julian in the seventh season of One Tree Hill and also about working with newcomer Jana Kramer as well as Sophia Bush. He also gives a sneak peek into the short film he has been shooting with Maria Bello.

Tree Hill No More?

by Meriam Bouarrouj

...

Julian was literally ordered to leave Tree Hill for a while and take up another movie project. This order came after more issues rose from his friendship/work-ship, call what you will, with trouble-maker actress Alex Dupre. “He moved there for Brooke....and he finds someone who's in his world and in that part of the country and it's nice to collaborate with them because it's a highly collaborative business...and who knows when the next opportunity will lie and he's like, I'm here with my girlfriend and I can't go back to Hollywood and I wanna work so this is kind of my opportunity to work and be here”, Austin Nichols said on his character's reason for not ending his work with Alex, which only led him to problems with Brooke.

From only starting out to assist Alex with her script, Julian ends up divulging a personal secret to her about his desire to have kids after realizing Brooke can't have them. This of course only further tears Brooke apart, as the fashion designer was already feeling guilty about taking his life in Los Angeles away from him.

"I feel like everybody likes to be liked and wanted. He's definitely let that sort of survive”, said Nichols on why Monday night's episode ended the way it did for Brooke and Julian. “He's been very clear about where his loyalties lie...he hasn't done anything wrong but he hasn't told her to stop because at the same time he's working with her and he wants to continue to develop these projects so it's kind of a slippery situation”, Nichols said.
